D-PATH TUTORIALS on Body Functions & Balance between Treatment, Diet and Lifestyle under Diabetes Conditions

The outcomes of the D-PATH project include among others  4 video tutorials for educators working with children, youth and adults related to diabetes in one way or another.

They go much beyond the flat project proposal as they produce completely new tutorials which integrate  partners’ existing experience, diabetes experience with target groups and practical testing  via D-PATH workshops.

 The newly created tutorials  are tools which allow educators to get involve creatively in an awareness raising and interactive learning process about diabetes while upgrading their own  knowledge of Lego &robotics supported education.

The 4 tutorials go progressively from  Lego elements building up  the pancreas,  pancreas function flow and cell plus demo  Lego &robotics with tutor support   and  academic lecture on diabetes and diet.

3 video tutorials were developed and tested during the project by O3 Out of the Ordinary staff from Greece and were a delight for the participants in the Romanian and Polish workshops   


Learn Diabetes with Lego by Anastasia Grimoura  showcases two LEGO constructions, The Break Dance model representing the pancreas and Keep it Safe model  illustrating pancreas, the cell and glucose/insuline transport. 


LEGO SPIKE PRIME for educators by Anastasia Grimoura, O3 Out of the Ordinary, Greece aims to empower educators with knowledge and abilities to use LEGO Spike Prime with Break Dance model and Keep it Safe Model . The components of the system and significance of their connections, colours and cell are meant to ensure an visually interactive learning flow about diabetes.


LEGO&ROBOTICS TUTORIAL ON DIABETES  by Dimitris Siskos, O3 out of the Ordinary , Greece. Dimitri shows how the Lego and Robotics units described in the previous tutorials operate in the case of diabetes type 1, type 2 and normal health. Carbs, insuline and protein are illustrated by different color bricks . They put in motion the robotic Lego system consisting of the pancreas unit, the transport unit and the cell unit which react differently in the case of diabetes 1 , 2 and normal health.  This colorful and in motion tutorial teaches educators how to use the tool to show  the people with diabetes what reactions happen in a  body  depending on which of the three situation : diabetes 1, 2 and healthy body.


DIETITIAN  TUTORIAL ON DIABETES  by Dr INZ Katarzyna Deren, Poland

Katarzyna takes an in depth approach to diabetes by focusing  on explaining the differences and relationships  resulting from the impact of a healthy lifestyle and diet in type 1 and type 2 diabetes . She  explains what happens in the body of a person with diabetes and  what to do to reduce the risk of complications and consequences of unbalanced carbohydrates metabolism. To achieve this, she explains further how to choose the right treatments, include nutritional treatment and take care of the lifestyle.
