Post-lyceum Nursing education in Romania

Dr. Liliana Stamate, Deputy Director of the ‘Ana Aslan’ National College, Braila presented the experience of nursing education in her school on the occasion of the 7-9 June2023 D-PATH Conference at Braila, Romania. She emphasized the tradition of nurse training in Braila dating back in 1904 when a midwife school was set up followed by a medical nurse training school. The present day school was set up in 1952 under the name ‘Medical staff training facility’ under the local administration management .

At the present nursing education is done according to school programs in force approved by the Ministry of Education. It takes 3 years and concludes with a competence certification exam. The learning modules leading to certification are a combination of theory and practice hours.

Practice takes place in the nursing labs of the school as well as in hospitals under contract for clinical stages.

· balneo-physiotherapy and rehabilitation nurses

· radiology nurses

Internships are held in the school’s own nursing labs as well as under contract with institutions such as

· the County Emergency Hospital

· Specialty Ambulatory- Perla

· Specialty Ambulatory-Flora

· recovery and chronic disease hospital Venetia

· pharmacies : Catena, Sensi Blue, Dr. Max, Myosotis, Doktoralec, Dona, Help Net.

Nutrition and metabolic diseases are studied in the second year in the framework of the Internal Medicine and nursing module. Internship stages take place in the Diabetes Department of the Emergency Clinic Hospital of Braila.

The school releases certificates recognized under the European Qualifications System and the graduates are supported to get employment based on the school cooperation with:
